3rd Annual Summer Solstice Lavender Festival

2012 Lavender Festival Thank You

A big Thank You & good bye 2011 Festival

Great Turnout! What a great weekend! Saturday started off with a scare from the bright red radar screen on the smart-phone. I think after this weekend I could predict the weather better than any news channel. Eat that Tim Hedrick on WKRC! Nevertheless, we pulled all our good energy together and created a bubble around the farm and with that we had NO rain, where north and south experienced down pours as the storm split just before trying to hit us. The rest of the day stayed cool with overcast skies and a light breeze. Many came throughout the day to hand pick lavender and experience a unique agri-tourism setting. Sunday was another day with rains on the way. Luckily, they held off until about 3pm. Then from here on we had a light steady shower heavy at times. Still, we loved seeing so many come out for the festival despite the rain and the forecast.

Everything went according to plan except for our TiPi vendor. He called Sunday to let us know his vehicle broke down on the way to our event Friday. So 2 years in a row, 4 Tipi's didn't show.  I think we are done with trying this. If they come great but we won't hold our hopes up and market any TiPi vendor. It must be the energy on the Lavender Farm with natives and Tipis. I have heard stories about this area being known for Civil War settlement and Indian wars. Not to mention all the artifacts we have found here that date back to the 1800's. Definitely a traveled area with powerful energy around us.

Much more positive energy went into our event than negative. Our festival tent rental company RSVP Party Rentals supplied RSVP Tent Supplier!the cleanest most professional set up I have ever seen. Next year we will be using there equipment for a better and drier visit. With the rain we had, all of our visitors were grateful for the quality shade and rain cover provided over the weekend So for all you who didn't make it to this year's festival, don't worry; our attendance was huge and this will leave room for more next year!

I want to thank all our wonderful volunteers including Kelsey Swindler and Eric Guindon representing our farm by greeting visitors with amazing professionalism. The entire Reed family who helped with parking, kids station, Yoga, kids activities, and lavender lemonade. Thanks to Jane Newman from Main Street Yoga instructing a wonderful yoga session in the field. My dad helped a great deal with parking and festival Main Street Yogaimages. I owe a huge thanks to my mom and her cousin Cathy for helping manage the gift shop with my cousin Michelle. We also had some great help with the kids activities from our Yoga instructor Mat Haggee and a special visitor who also volunteered from New Mexico, Kym's brother Shawn! So many to thank we could spend a long deal of time on this subject. If I missed anyone please don't be discouraged as everyone will receive a formal thank you in the mail!.

Most of all we would like to say thanks to the visitors who greatly helped our small agri-toruism farm host a great successful festival. Without your attendance, we would not have a unique event like we do. I can assure you next year will feature surprises for everyone, as we have some great ideas and already have plans underway for the 2012 Summer Solstice Lavender Festival. Please register with us to stay tuned for our events and specials on the farm.

As always,
Peace, Love and Lavender! ~ Prell Family & Friends!
